Join us for a Botanical Cyanotype Workshop!
We're excited to welcome photographer and cyanotype artist Janice Meyers-Foreman into our workshop space this fall for a hands-on Cyanotype workshop!
Cyanotype Printing is a beautiful photographic printing process that produces a Prussian blueprint, unique each time. Commonly called sun-print, it is a non-toxic process. Historically used by engineers and botanists to produce copies of drawings and plant images.
A photosensitive solution is applied to paper once exposed to sun or UV light, the uncovered areas of the paper turn a deep rich blue. The workshop will give participants an opportunity to design, experiment, and develop their own cyanotypes.
Pre-coated paper, tools, and instruction, as well as a collection leaves and flowers to work with are provided. You are invited to bring any fresh or dried flowers and or leaves from your own garden as well as any opaque or translucent material (i.e. lace, buttons, or sea glass) you think might add interest to your images.
UV lights will be provided if the sun doesn’t come out to play!
